The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has received Libya’s plan to replace Malaysia as the peace monitor in the peace talk between them and the government. Malaysia had just recently quitted their role and now the government is looking at Libya for help. There are now six Libyan supervisors in the city of Iligan and Libya has informed the Philippines that four will be arriving soon.

The MILF was revolved around the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in the beginning at the 1960’s, when the group was formed in the south island of the Philippines.

Since 2004, the Malaysian government has sent in peace mediators to the Philippines to facilitate the peace talk between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in the southern island of Mindanao.

The MILF group has been recognized by the United States as a terrorist group and the government has struggled over the years to come into an agreement with the rebels.

Now, Malaysia has decided to pull out all its officers by September due to the fact that they believe the Philippine government is not serious enough in solving the problem. The MILF wants Malaysia back for they have proven to be excellent mediators. However, the MILF chief peace negotiator Mohagher Iqbal said that the Philippine government needs to change its attitude about this in order to bring Malaysia back.
